More specifically, retrofit coordinators are responsible for auditing the energy performance of the building, producing a detailed house plan report and providing clients with suitable home improvement options.

Q: Why do I need to have a Domestic Energy Assessment?

A Domestic Energy Assessment will provide you with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). When a building is sold, rented or constructed, it is a legal requirement to have a valid EPC available for potential buyers. With the exception of certain properties such as listed buildings, failure to have a valid EPC can lead to a fine, so it is essential to have an accredited Domestic Energy Assessor conduct an assessment. As part of our retrofit services, we are an approved Domestic Energy Assessor and can provide you with a valid EPC.

Retrofit Coordination

Our retrofit coordination services consist of identifying, assessing and managing any technical or practical risks within retrofit projects. We will ensure projects are safe and meet their maximum potential. For projects and properties that are required to comply with PAS 2035:2019 regulations, our retrofit coordination services will make certain that the minimum requirements are satisfied.

Retrofit Assessment

A retrofit assessment will allow us to visit a property and prepare a report to assist with retrofit coordination. Consisting of a thorough dwelling appraisal, we will collect essential property information. This includes the building’s heritage, architectural features, condition and installed services such as ventilation, water, lighting and heating. Retrofit assessments inform us of any constraints or limitations that must be considered.

Domestic Energy Assessment

Our licensed assessors will undertake site assessments to examine the property, recording information such as age, building type, number of windows and roof construction. We will provide you with an energy efficiency rating and produce an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). After a domestic energy assessment, we can also offer practical advice on how to improve energy efficiency.

On Construction New Build Energy Assessment

All new build homes are required on completion to have an On Construction Energy Performance Certificate (OCEPC), which we can provide. Using Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP), we will assess the property and produce an EPC detailing its energy efficiency. Our assessors will draw information from architectural plans and drawings, along with detailed information about construction, ventilation and heating.

Risk Management

Working closely with the risk owner, our risk management professionals will focus on anticipating problems and implementing actions to reduce uncertainty. Risk management allows many issues to be foreseen and taken care of at an early stage, resulting in fewer disruptions to the project. This can result in a more streamlined process, saving money in the long run.

Thermographic Surveys

We offer thermographic surveys for residential and commercial properties to help improve their thermal performance and energy efficiency. Thermographic surveys can show whether insulation has been installed correctly, alongside any air leakage or causes of black mould. Implementing the results of our thermographic surveys will help reduce energy costs and the building’s carbon footprint.
